Who

#GeriMedJC flourishes because of involvement from the Twitter community.  Everyone who contributes has some ownership in the larger mission of #GeriMedJC which is to promote international engagement around recent literature in geriatric medicine.  Below are some of the people behind the scenes of #GeriMedJC.

Current Team

Camilla Wong (@camilla_wong) is a staff geriatrician at St. Michael’s Hospital (Toronto, Canada), an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, and a Project Investigator at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital.  Her clinical and research interests are in the implementation and evaluation of models of acute care geriatric medicine, particularly in trauma patients.  She is the founder of #GeriMedJC and moderates the discussion from @GeriMedJC.

Amanda Gardhouse (@AGardhouse) is a geriatrician in the small town community of Orillia, Ontario.  Her interests include social media in medicine.  She led the evaluation of the growth and impact of #GeriMedJC.  Read the study in The Journal of the American Geriatrics Society here.

Eric Wong (@EricWong_MD) is a postgraduate trainee in geriatric medicine at the University of Toronto.  He has revamped the #GeriMedJC experience by integrating YouTube to archive the live journal club video presentations and coordinates the Zoom platform.

Shabbir Alibhai is a Senior Scientist and geriatrician at the University of Toronto.  As the faculty advisor, he facilitates article selection and coaches presenters on aspects of critical appraisal.

The article presentations are given by postgraduate trainees in geriatric medicine at the University of Toronto.

Emeritus and Alumni Team Members

Laura Budd (@lbudd3) is a postgraduate trainee at the University of Toronto.  Her interests include social media in medicine. 

Christine Yang (@christinemooy) brought years of experience in program management to the evaluation of the #GeriMedJC project.

Thomas Galati (@thomasgalati) is a graduate student in Computer Science at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.  He designed and implemented the #GeriMedJC website.
